Help Center

Find quick answers about using TheFlavorMap, managing your restaurant profile, and getting support as a diner or restaurant partner.

Help for diners

Everything you need to discover great places to eat and share your experiences.

  • How do I find restaurants near me?
Use the search bar on the home page to enter a city, area, or cuisine. You can also enable location access to see restaurants near your current location.
  • How are ratings and reviews calculated?
Each restaurant’s rating is based on reviews submitted by real diners. We combine recent and older reviews to show a fair, up‑to‑date score.
  • How do I write a review?
Open the restaurant page, click Write a Review, choose your rating, and share details about your visit. You can add photos that other users can like—this helps restaurants promote their business.

User referral rewards (diner accounts)

If you have a regular diner account (not a restaurant owner), you can share a personal invite link with someone who wants to register their restaurant on TheFlavorMap. This is separate from the owner referral program.

  • Where do I find my link?
Sign in and open My Profile. Under Share with restaurant owners you’ll find your referral link (it includes ?ref= and your code). Copy it and send it to the new owner.
  • How do I earn points?
When a new owner registers their restaurant using your link and an administrator approves the listing, you can earn referral points (once per approved restaurant). If the program is turned off, points per referral are zero—this is configured by TheFlavorMap.
  • What does the SEK or USD “display value” mean?
Your profile may show an estimated cash value per point for information only—it is not a payment or guarantee. SEK is shown if you have at least one approved referred restaurant in Sweden; otherwise the USD rate is shown. Exact amounts are set on the platform.
  • Can I redeem these points toward payments?
User referral points are primarily a reward and display program on your profile. Restaurant owners have a separate program where points can be applied to subscriptions in the owner portal (registration fees are paid in full, without points).
  • Where do I see which restaurants used my link?
On the same profile page you’ll see a list of referred restaurants with status for the owner’s email confirmation, admin approval, and whether points have been credited.

Using the app

How to use TheFlavorMap on the web: search, filters, map, and your account.

  • How do I use search and filters?
On the home page you can search by city, area, or cuisine. Use filters for price range, opening hours, or rating to narrow your results.
  • How does the map work?
The map shows restaurants near your location or search. Click a marker to see name and rating, then click the popup to open the restaurant page. Enable location/GPS for more accurate results.
  • Do I need an account to search?
No. You can search restaurants and read reviews without an account. You need an account to write reviews, save favorites, or manage a restaurant.
  • Can I use TheFlavorMap on my phone?
Yes. The site works in your phone or tablet browser. You get the same search, map, and restaurant pages—enable location for the best experience.
  • How do I log in or reset my password?
Click Log in in the header. Forgot password? Use Forgot password? on the login page and we’ll send a reset link to your email.

Help for restaurant owners

Manage your presence on TheFlavorMap and reach more diners. Reviews with photos and likes from guests help you promote your business.

  • How do reviews and photos help me promote my business?
Guests can add photos to reviews and other users can like them. More reviews and likes make your restaurant more visible and build trust, helping new diners choose you.
  • How do I add my restaurant?
Go to the For Restaurants section or visit /owner/restaurant/add to submit your restaurant details.
  • How can I update my menu, hours, or photos?
After your restaurant is approved, sign in to your owner dashboard to edit opening hours, menu items, photos, and other profile details.
  • How do I respond to reviews?
From the owner dashboard you can reply to reviews, thank guests, and address issues publicly to build trust with future diners.

Referral points for restaurant owners

As a restaurant owner you can earn referral points by inviting other owners. You can apply those points toward subscriptions in the owner portal. Registration fees must be paid in full (card or other payment), without points. Diners have a separate user referral program (invite link with ?ref=) described under User referral rewards—it is not the same balance or redemption flow.

  • How do I earn points?
Share your personal invite link from your owner dashboard or profile. When a new owner registers a restaurant using your link and an administrator approves that restaurant, you receive points (once per successful referral). Points per approved referral and each point’s cash value are set by TheFlavorMap.
  • What is a point worth?
At checkout, each point is worth a fixed amount in the restaurant’s billing currency—SEK for Sweden, USD internationally. The rate shown in your dashboard (Sweden vs international) follows whether you have a restaurant in Sweden. Exact amounts are configured on the platform.
  • Where can I use points?
The registration fee is paid in full by card (no points). When you buy or renew a subscription, you can enter how many points to apply—they reduce the amount due. Any remaining balance is paid by card in the portal.
  • Where do I see balance and history?
In the owner dashboard, open Referral points for your balance, estimated value, and a full points history (earned and redeemed). The same invite link appears on your profile along with the guest QR code.
